On April 2, 2025, Indian Grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi married Dr. Nidhi Kataria, a homeopathic doctor, at the Oxford Golf Resort in Pune. The wedding was attended by prominent figures from the chess community, including former World Champion Viswanathan Anand, current World Champion D. Gukesh, and Dutch Grandmaster Anish Giri with his wife, International Master Sopiko Guramishvili. ​

The ceremony featured traditional Indian festivities, with guests donning ethnic attire. Notably, Anand and Gukesh showcased their dance moves during the celebrations, with videos of their performances gaining widespread attention online. ​

The event also saw attendance from other notable chess personalities such as Arjun Erigaisi, R. Praggnanandhaa, Abhimanyu Puranik, Sasikiran Krishnan, Adhiban Baskaran, and Sethuraman S.P. The combined presence of these grandmasters made the wedding a significant gathering in the chess world. ​

Following the wedding, Vidit is set to participate in the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam in Paris, commencing on April 7. He mentioned that the joyous occasion would serve as positive preparation for the upcoming tournament. ​
